Douglas, MI – The Douglas Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is rolling out a new program to attract businesses that would like to locate or expand in downtown Douglas, Michigan.  The Business Incentive Program will offer up to $5,000 for businesses that wish to locate or expand in the downtown area.  Eligible items in the program include improvements such as new construction, structural or architectural elements, painting and restoration and other improvements with an estimated life of 10 years.

The program is targeted to fill vacant buildings and expand business investment in Downtown Douglas.  The funds are provided on a reimbursement basis.  If the business expansion does not stay open for a 5 year period, they will be required to pay the DDA back a prorated portion.

Business Incentive Program applications are accepted, reviewed and awarded on an ongoing basis depending on the availability of funds in the DDA budget.  This is also a competitive evaluation process, with complete documentation regarding your project (i.e., photographs, renderings, sketches, estimates) helping to increase your chances of receiving funding.

The Douglas DDA initiated this program in hopes to continue to grow the downtown area, as well as helping the current business owners overcome certain obstacles if they arise.
